The deep basslines and ethereal choral sounds of Karl Zine’s latest track, ‘Greenscreen’, come together to form one of the most impressive examples of modern electronic pop 2020 has to offer. His lead vocal delivers syllabically-dense melodies that occasionally border on rap and stick in your head long after that first listen. The track has a very interesting backstory that involves the world of Grand Theft Auto 5 and its characters: “It was beginning to feel like I had more in common with the title characters in GTA than the real people outside. So, I started writing phrases down, random stuff that popped into my head.” Zine’s music is pushed forward by his gift for production, and his well-loved duo project RINNGS has allowed him to find support around the world. - Dan Peeke
